Writing Rules

General Guidelines
  • All stories must be set in the Tales of the Galaxy universe.
  • Respect the established canon and lore when writing.
  • Stories should be original work. Plagiarism will result in a ban.
  • Keep content appropriate - excessive violence or explicit content is not permitted.
Story Format
  • Give your story a descriptive title.
  • Write a short description to hook readers.
  • Use proper grammar and formatting.
  • Add relevant tags so readers can find your story.
Canon System
Stories can become canon (official lore) through community voting. When more than 50% of active users vote for a story, it becomes part of the official Tales of the Galaxy universe.
Rating System
Stories are rated on four criteria, each scored from 1 to 10. Labels adapt to each medium (text, audio, video, comic, artwork):
  • Writing / Production / Craft / Technique - Fundamentals of the medium
  • Originality / Composition / Concept - Uniqueness and creativity
  • Style / Voice / Direction / Layout - Personal voice and presentation
  • Attraction / Engagement / Page-turner / Visual Impact - How compelling it is
